An autobiographical story of the filmmaker's search for his missing father. Fifty yearsn after the end of the World War II, the wounds of war have not been healed for the filmmaker whose grandfather was beheaded by the Japanese soldiers while his soldier-father was overcome by alcoholism to escape the horrors wrought by war.
The film mixes documentary footages with reconstructed scenes to give a poetic, yet agonizing narrative of how wars destroy families and societies and how each one has to cope with the burdens of the past. Growing up a homosexual and living his own war, the filmmaker seeks to reconcile himself with his bitter past.

"Private Wars" is powerful personal documentary that also explores the history of the Philippines in a critical way . I commend you for your courage and the strength of your artistic and political vision."
